Prep – Year 3 to Year 6

Our Prep School takes children on an exciting journey from which they emerge as confident, accomplished young people who are ready to take the next steps in our Senior School.

Each year, more specialist staff teach the children, laying the foundations for the options taught in our Senior School

Alongside their academic subjects, children in the Prep School also have timetabled lessons with specialist teaching staff in Art, DT, Music, Life-Skills, Dance, Drama, Computing, Philosophy, Performing Arts, PE, and Games. Sport is a ‘Core’ offering at FSM, with all children taking an active part in weekly matches and sports fixtures.

Throughout the curriculum, delivered in classes with a maximum of 20 children but often smaller, we ensure that we prepare individuals not just for the world of today but also the world of tomorrow – giving them the foundational skills for job roles that may not even exist yet.

As our children grow, the close community we have at Forres Sandle Manor creates a safe haven, one which encourages them to spread their wings and take on new responsibilities. They mentor younger members of our school and take on leadership roles such as Junior House Leaders, Subject Prefects, Sports Captains and within the Boarding House. They take an active part in the regular House Challenges and performances, working with older members of the school to achieve outstanding showcases of talent.

With the support of their dedicated class teacher, specialist staff, their Key Stage Coordinator and the whole staff team, FSM children are both challenged and supported, as required. Each individual is closely monitored to help nurture a genuine love of learning, an ability to take risks, demonstrate resilience, and a readiness to take on the world.

The Prep children are welcome to join After School Clubs and Enrichment sessions on Saturday mornings. These give the children an opportunity to explore a range of creative and personal development subjects that will, in turn, support their academic learning, such as First Aid, LAMDA, photography and cookery, as well as outdoor activities. These not only enable them to discover or develop a passion but also to integrate with the whole school, learning from our older pupils.
