After our Year 2 Forest Schoolers made their own brilliant bird boxes, Mr Humphreys
decided to make an owl box to go alongside them.
Mr Humphreys continues the story:
The project has been a long one. Today, I watched our Year 8s in their dress rehearsal for their upcoming PSB presentations. They were awesome and spoke proudly of the development of their key learning powers, such as Independence and Reflection during their Humanities enquiries. Making this owl box has been a real learning experience for me too, with every learning power (collaboration in cutting the wood, plenty of problem-solving, independence, GRIT and reflection) coming into play. There was certainly plenty of blood, sweat and a few tears that have gone into getting it where it is.
Big thank yous to everyone who played their part, Trev, Mr Hancock, Mr Fairbairn, Tommy Wa, Mrs D-C and family for a cracking paint job, Miss Myatt and especially to Dave for his help in hoisting it up into the tree. It certainly is an owl box made by the FSM community and was a true ambassador for the worth of our learning powers in real life.

Well done to Mr Humphreys and all of our Forest Schoolers for such a fantastic project, we are confident our resident owl Solomon will enjoy it!
