For our final Theme Night of the year, Hollywood came to the FSM boarding house and what a fantastic evening we had. As always, the children looked wonderful in their costumes, from Hollywood glamour to stars of stage and screen, and some roving reporters to capture the action. FSM’s very own paparazzi, alias Mrs Cochand, took wonderful photographs of the boarders as they prepared for the evening and also during some of the activities, please enjoy the gallery below.
After an all American supper, it was time for the fun to begin. The boarders loved the return of the zorbs (known as Golden Globes for the evening). There were various quizzes, including a Hollywood stars picture quiz and matching famous lines to their iconic films. Once the boarders had found their Hollywood Walk of Fame star, they were able to collect their box of popcorn from Miss Brown. A professional photo booth had been installed in the DHH to capture magic moments with friends and the boarders could vote throughout the evening for the FSM Oscars which concluded the event. There was even the opportunity for a little bread making (Paul Hollywood style!)
At the end of the evening, the boarders gathered in the Front Hall for the Oscar winners to be announced and the all important acceptance speeches that followed. Particular congratulations go to ‘Jaws’ (alias Ben K) who won the Oscar for Best Costume, although Livi and Jess must also be congratulated for the t-shirts and lanyards they had printed (with thanks to their Mums for helping).
My thanks go to the staff for entering into the spirit of the evening as they always do and for helping me put up decorations and set up the various activities, they are truly amazing. This is the 21st Theme Night I have organised and as I prepare to move on from FSM at the end of term, I will take so many wonderful memories with me of these very special Wicked Wednesdays.
