Welcome to Maths Week!

This week, we’re diving into the wonderful world of numbers as we celebrate Maths Week!

Throughout the week, our pupils will have the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting activities designed to spark their curiosity and build their confidence in mathematics. From hands-on challenges at school to inspiring trips, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as they explore the many ways numbers shape the world around us.

Maths Week 2025 Cookery

On Monday, our Year 5 children donned their aprons and headed to the kitchen for a deliciously fun way to practice their mathematics!

During their cookery session, the pupils worked on weighing and measuring accurately to make their marble cake, zesting oranges, and using electric whisks and brand-new air fryers.

They carefully calculated ingredients, honed their measuring skills, and learned about precision in baking.

Once the cakes were baked to golden perfection, the maths fun continued as they sliced them up using fractions, division, and problem-solving skills. Who knew maths could taste this good?

Well done to all our Year 5 students for their hard work and enthusiasm. This was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that blended numbers with creativity—and let’s face it, there’s no better way to learn than with cake!

Maths Week 2025 CSI Investigation

Tuesday

It’s been an exciting day filled with real-life maths in action! Here’s a glimpse of what our brilliant pupils have been up to:

Our Year 5 pupils got hands-on in the kitchen, baking delicious Marble Cakes! Once their treats were out of the oven, the real challenge began – dividing their cakes into equal pieces and discovering the magic of fractions. A sweet way to learn maths, wouldn’t you agree?

In the afternoon, our Year 7s channelled their inner detectives in a thrilling CSI mathematics activity. They honed their data collection, graphing, and analytics skills to solve the mystery. Who knew maths could be this suspenseful?

We’re so proud of the creativity and enthusiasm our pupils have shown so far. Stay tuned for more amazing activities as we continue the week! 💡✨

Wednesday

Games, Clues, and Puzzles Galore!

Maths Week - Board Games

Day 3 of Maths Week has been packed with excitement, creativity, and plenty of opportunities to explore the fascinating world of mathematics. The day started with one of the most beloved traditions of the week: our whole-school board games session! Watching every child dive into different games, each designed to develop their number skills while having fun, was an absolute joy. This special activity brings the entire school together, fostering a sense of community and shared learning as pupils of all ages connect through play.

As the day progressed, Year 3 students embarked on an incredible Maths Treasure Hunt around the school grounds. Armed with curiosity and teamwork, they cracked clues, solved puzzles, and even had their first taste of algebra! The treasure hunt combined outdoor fun with mental challenges, turning learning into an adventure.

It’s been another fantastic day of discovery and enthusiasm for Maths Week. A huge well done to everyone for making it so memorable! Keep up the amazing work as we continue to celebrate the magic of maths.

Thursday

As our Maths Week continued, Day 4 was another fabulous learning experience for our students!

In the morning, our Year 8 students had a blast working with Bubbles, diving deep into the fascinating world of circumferences, areas, and radii. A fun and engaging way to explore key mathematical concepts!

Later in the afternoon, our Year 4 students enjoyed an energetic session of Bingo, where they sharpened their skills with numbers while having lots of fun!

We’re loving the creativity and enthusiasm everyone is bringing to Maths Week. Stay tuned for more exciting activities ahead!

Friday

Maths Week - Friday - Taskmaster

What a week it’s been! From CSI investigations and thrilling mathematical treasure hunts to numerically-based cooking and even number-powered bubbles, our students have truly embraced the world of maths in the most fun and engaging ways possible!

To cap it all off, today our Year 9s took part in a Taskmaster-style competition, testing their mind skills with challenges like counting to 60 seconds without a stopwatch and measuring a meter without a tape measure. The goal? To get as close as possible—and they all did brilliantly!

A huge thank you to our Head of Mathematics, Mr McEwan, Mr Scott, and the entire Maths team for making this week so interactive and inspiring!
