The ski season was going well until the July Camp where Samuel came away with a suspect knee injury – which after A&E plus a Child Physio and Sports Massage was down to over tightened Quads/Calf’s/Hamstrings.  Luckily it was fixed and not the knee injury we thought it was going to be.  So we cancelled all the Championships Races for about 2 months hence there is a gap in activity.

In September Sam won a silver 2nd place in the Hemel Snow Race Championship, the very next week he finished 1st in Race 5 at his home dry-slope of Aldershot in the Snowsport South Region Series, which meant he won the overall (4 wins out of 5) Series U14 trophy and a 3rd place overall in the fastest male category trophy.  Next, it was off to Holland for the Lowlands Indoor Champs up against GBR, Belgian and Netherlands competitors – While not on the podium his snow skiing was seen to improve and it was a positive experience to lower Sam’s snow seed points.

Last weekend he was racing in Kilternan, just below Dublin in Southern Ireland, gaining a 1st U14 trophy (6th overall) on the Saturday and on a wet Sunday managed a 2nd place U14 medal.  Sam was also picked for the England A – 6 person relay squad (youngest of 6) and helped England A beat Wales A in a close-fought competition gaining the Irish Relay Trophy for England – so all in all a great weekend!
Back in UK for 2200 on Sunday night, he rested in a Hemel hotel and back out to the Snow Centre at Hemel for the NSSA Schools race for FSM – taking the Juniors 1st place U14 (fastest Junior male) and gaining max points for FSM A Team.  

A great month of Dry Slope and Indoor Snow racing – but next for Sam is the October Austria trip to Hintertux to get ready for the Snow season and he is looking forward to the Alpine Winter Ski Racing Season.
